Hello again Folks,
Let me first start by taking a second to welcome back our good friend Winter.
A rather late start followed by an unavoidable temporary closing due to lack of snow is now in the rear view mirror of Island skier and boarders. The lifts started spinning again on Feb 20th and the skiing has been great even since. Storm after storm dropped tons of snow and made for some fantastic days on the hill. The mountains base now sits at over 200cm and Mt Washington has announced that they will stay open for full operations through till the end of April.....(awesome)
With Spring break upon us and 2 weeks of great skiing ahead we have decided to hold a sale through till the end of March. Store wide all gear is 20% to 60% off. And on March the 17th we will be offering half price rentals for St Paddy's Day. Remember to wear something green.
Check out skitakhut.com for more sale info
Daylight savings came this week and Vancouver Island backcountry enthusiasts have been enjoying the extra hour of sunlight. On Tuesday one of our staff and his buddies toured out to Mt Allan Brooks in Strathcona Park to get some turns in the spring conditions. The boys skied the North facing aspect all the way back down to Lake Helen Mackenzie. If you are interested in ski touring, our rental shop is equipped with all the touring equipment and safety gear needed. And if you have questions about avalanche safety training, or would like to go on a guided tour contact Strathcona Mountain Adventures or Island Alpine Guides
..........don't forget to check the Vancouver Island Avalanche Bulletin before heading out.
Time to get back out on the slopes. Everyone have a fantastic Spring Break.
See ya soon
